The Virtual Museum of the Roma in Catalonia is an online experience that is slowly consolidating with a varied collection of content. A project born of the Comprehensive Plan of the Roma in Catalonia and has the support of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Family of the Generalitat.
This Virtual Museum is only available in Catalan. The web has half a dozen major sections, which give access to content wwwww on the project and its objectives (Home) to a first shaft on the Roma Culture in Catalonia, with touches on the current situation, the last 50 years, values, social participation or associations with an item-responsible FSG Catalonia Carmen Mendez, a third tree on History, with five sections that make a journey from the origins to the twentieth century and genocide. A section on language, with both theoretical and practical content on the Romani language and slang, contributions to Catalan and Castilian, etc.. A fifth section on Art, with sections on music, wwwww flamenco, Visual Arts, Film, Comics and Catalan rumba and a gallery section with access to photos, videos wwwww and sound files.
In addition to these categories, which offer short and simple but adequate for a general approach content, web is complemented by a section of news and calendar (news) and several prominent centers of interest or too simple and informative content on topics such as food, characters, international, Roma youth, key dates, an interesting story or Gypsies, the latter section, which offers 5 short stories.
It also has direct access to the main Catalan organizations in the sector, video capsules (selected audio-visual wwwww files) or an animated map showing the gypsy traveling exhibitions from India to Europe.
One web, ultimately, recommended consultation that meets the following objectives: Giving voice to Roma to explain itself and approach the Catalan society. Making a dynamic virtual museum participation platform for Roma intellectuals and connoisseurs of Gypsy culture. Investigate and disseminate little known aspects of Gypsy culture. Knowledge to contribute by decreasing stereotypes and prejudices that still exist in society. Disseminate the different historical, social and cultural aspects of different Roma people. Promote coexistence, respect and solidarity between Roma and non-Roma. Be a source of information for any researcher, student or journalist who wants to know universal aspects of Roma.
